See you Soon

Just a quick post to say I won't be around for almost a week as I am going for a short trip down the coast a little way. Not sure there will be any internet connection and even if there is my little i-pod does have limitations where blogs are concerned.

Hope you all have a good week and that the sun shines on you

Artful Challenge 52- Heavy Metal

Hello Everyone. Thank you for finding time to visit Jumbled Crafts it is always appreciated.

It's time for another challenge at Artful Times and this time Von has chosen Heavy Metal as the theme. You can make anything you like so long as it follows the theme and you could win a prize when of £10 to spend at Oyster Stamps

I hope you will visit Neet, Von  and Wendy to see what they made for the challenge

I made this box to keep some jewelry in that is too big to go in my usual jewelry box.

I started out with this box

I used a spare piece of card and measured a piece the size of the box top

Covered it PVA

Stuck on various things-mesh fruit bags are great to use and little plastic embellishment as well. Even a pipe cleaner

Then I covered it with metal tape and started to stamp and etch here and there to add more texture and to bring out the shapes I had added underneath the tape Next I added black acrylic paint and worked it in to look like dirt and finally polish the whole thing to being back some shine.

I covered the rest of the box with metal tape and rubbed it lightly with the black paint then wiped it off again and polished as before. Then I lined the inside with craft paper and fastened on the piece I had made for the top. I used strong tape and also brads to fasten it on. I then added an Avon Breast Cancer pin which is used to open the lid.

Hope you will join in with us for the challenge as it is always great to see your ideas.

Have a great day

Journal Page

Hi All-wet and cold here today but I am sure by the time Monday comes the sun will be shining. I am hoping it will be as I am going for a short break in a caravan.

At Moo Mania and More this time the theme is Togetherness or Twosomes

I tried using my Oil Pastels again for the background but I still can't get the hang of them at all . This journal book is now full so I will be starting a new one. Hope it will be like when were at school and the first few pages of a new book were really neat :)

If you can pop back later when I will have a another post as the new challenge at Artful Times starts about
 6 pm

Bye for now and thank you for calling in at Jumbled Crafts.

ATC and Tag

Hello from a wet and cold NE UK Coast. Haven't been out at all today but my lovely hairdresser came to give my hair a trim so it was nice to have a catch-up with her

This week at Wicked Wednesday the theme is Forest/Flower Fairies

I used a photograph of my own for the background which was taken in a wooded area with yellow flowers. The image was a black and white image from Nicecrane designs and I coloured it with felt tips. I thought the little fairy was looking sheepish so made him stay where he was for now.

The theme at Tag Along is the The Big Top/Circus.

Nowadays the circus is very different to when I was young. It was always full of animals acts and feats of daring from the acrobats and trapeze artists. No safety nets in those days. Just hours of practice and fitness. There was always the tension just in case an lion tamer got his head bitten off as he inserted it into the mouth of his charges or the beautiful lady on the flying trapeze landed at your feet as she did a somersault in mid air. Heck it has made my stomach churn just thinking about it.

My images, that look like an act from a modern circus, are from Melissa Diaz

I love her images and won these at Wicked Wednesday Challenge.

Hope your day is going well and nice that you dropped by

Craft Barn lyrics or quote

Hi All. A bit dull here today and starting to rain so I went for a very early walk then have been playing in my craft room since then. I hope your day is going well.

At The Craft Barn this time the words are Flower/ Travel. I have tried to combine the two again and really enjoyed making this page for my journal.

I made the border of tulips in Paint Shop Pro by juggling four lots of tulip images I had for years- a lady called Mel used to make the flower 'tubes' for us to use as we wished. I did add a few effects as well to make them stand out more.

I added some distressed stain around the edges, the fairy and the bee and flower stamps

Do you remember Tiny Tim singing this song :)

Thank you for your visit

Inchie and Collage

Hello Everyone who drops by and thank you for calling in at Jumbled Crafts.

It is Monday again already so time for another inchie at Every Inchie Monday. I hope some of you will join in this fun challenge as there are some great ideas made by the people who do join in. This week the subject is figure.

This is my picasso like figure that I drew in felt tips. It all ready to be stuck onto my master board.

At Collage Obsession this week the theme is weather which is a very good theme considering all the strange weather across the world at the moment.

I just searched through a few of our photographs-mainly from this year and combined them with a few PSP effects as well. The snow, showing me and Santa-the donkeys rides-led by my friend Carol who looks after the donkeys on our beach and the long shadows when the sun is shining.

These are the two photographs I combined to make the background both were taken in the last week.

Have a great day/night

Tag Along

Hello Everyone hope your day is going well and the sun is shining where you are. Sorry that a lot of our blog friends are still having such awful weather and I hope that better weather arrives for you soon.

At Tag Along this time the theme is Pierrot. I just love this subject.

It's a few years now since a crafting friend sent me some wonderful sheets of pictures with pierrots that she had bought but didn't like. The make on them is ReproLit GmbH  but when I looked that up on Google it seems to be just a distribution company.

I made the background using the shaving cream technique and stuck on the pierrots one on top of the other. Then I added a couple of peel-offs with clown hats on them and some fancy wool for the tie. This is definitely one for my tag wall.

Thank you for dropping in

ATC and picture

Hi All from a lovely sunny but cold NE UK coast. Off  for a beach walk soon and maybe have lunch out overlooking sea. Vic is charging his camera so hopefully we will get some good photos.( He said  that the auto focus isn't working on it--not sure if that means it is no good now) :(

This week at Wicked Wednesday the challenge is 'to create you own super hero'. Well not many of you know what I do in my spare time so here is my alto ego ready to tackle any problem- any craft problem that I have :)' A Legend in my own Living Room'

If you go here you can make your own super hero by following the instruction. The background was created in Paint Shop Pro and I coloured my hero (me) with felt tips.
This is what it looked like after a lot of choices I made. It is fun and I tried a lot of different things before settling on this one.

Now to Craft-room Challenge where the theme this time is Transport.

I painted an old frame with white emulsion paint then stamped around it with a Chocolate Baroque stamp--if you think you have seen this before it because I used it before a long time ago but now I added some more stamping in green to bring out the green of the car. The car stamp is by Personal Impressions. and the animal print card is from Valerie. I used a folder to make the embossing on the next piece of card and distressed it with black ink. The bottom piece of card I have had for a long time and it is from a pad that hasn't a name on it. I coloured the car green because it is like one that my BIL had years ago and he also likes bottle beers with silly names :) so added a few tops from those as I am going to give it to him next time we meet up.

Have agreat day and thank you for taking the time to drop in to Jumbled Crafts.

A Card and envelope

Hello Everyone -hope you are feeling great and thank you for calling in at Jumbled Crafts.

At Try it on Tuesday this time the theme is Music.

I made a card then decided to make a matching envelope as well because the card is just for a neighbour so won't be put in the post box. Not sure anything with the gold corners on it would go through the machines at the sorting office.

The  gramophone image is one that has been in a folder on my computer since 2008. I traced the source to Anneke Oostmeister who does Parchment work and has free patterns for that-her new place didn't start until 2009 so after I got this.

The music background and the music swirl were also in folders on my computer--I save far too much stuff:(. I coloured the image with Promarkers and white pen and found the quote on Google. Still trying to use up my many peel-offs which look ok on this project I think.

Take care

Tando Challenge

Hi All. Just one thing to post today so not a long posts from me. Thank you for dropping by :)

At Tando Creative Challenges this time the theme is Green, Yellow and Brown.

I made this tag and used a new folder for the background. Thank you Von for this lovely gift which was in the parcel with the other things she sent for me.

The compass is by Tando and there is a larger one as well in the pack.

The yacht is part of a stamp by Montage which is no longer on the market-it is a big stamp with a sea scene but I don't have the stamp unfortunately. I found the quote on Google.

Have a great day everyone

Tag and scrap page

Hello All. Welcome to my little home in Blogland. Don't forget to join us at my other 'home in Blogland'-Artful Times where the challenge is to use game pieces to make anything you like.

This time at Moo Mania and More the theme is childhood. You can make anything either with or without a Moo so long as it follows the theme.

I have my childhood very much in mind after visiting an aunt and cousin that I haven't seen for a long time. All our families lived in one big house, owned by my grandma and grandad, until I was about 6 years old and I have made this page with me in the middle when I was the only child among a lot of adults. Even though it was still wartime the house was full of the things I have written around the outside of my photograph-a very happy time for me. I used scraps of paper for the background and some canvas type material for the moos.

This is the tag I made for Tag Tuesday this week as we have the theme Spring Flowers

Von sent me a parcel with some beautiful stamp sets and some other extras as well.

This was one of the sets of stamps so I used the daffodil and the sentiment from there. Thank you Von xx

The other daffodil is a Marie Curie pin.

Inchie and Collage

Hello :) Nice to have you pop in at Jumbled Crafts and I hope you like what you find on this post.

At Every Inchie Monday the theme this week is Forest. A very large subject for an inch square but there are already some amazing entries to admire.

Here is mine which I drew in felt tips. I based it on a photograph we took when we were in a forest a while ago.

At Collage Obsession the theme this week is Making Marks-lots of ideas on what you can do both digitally and with other mediums. I do believe I could become obsessed with this sort of work and look forward to the challenges each week since I found the blog. My passion is to work with digital art and this gives me a reason to do it--do I need a reason?:) I think I do or I may take root in front of the computer screen.

I started off with this picture then smudge it with the smudge tool and various steps to create different 'marks' for my background. Then I added lots of brushes to give some feeling of texture.

I painted this face in Paint Shop Pro a while ago and used the airbrush tool for the face and other fancy brushes for the rest of it.

Now I had better get something useful done as I have been doing this since I saw the new challenge this morning. Anyone who likes ironing I have lots of it again :(

Have a great day

Three Challenges

Hello Everyone. Beautiful day here but I will be resting instead of walking as we went on the train yesterday to see family we haven't seen for years and it was a really good day out but tiring. I hope you all had a great day and thank you for calling in.

I have put three challenges on this post as they are blogs where I always enter the challenges but please don't think you have to comment on all of them though I know a lot of you that pop into Jumbled Crafts also enter these challenges as well.

First is my entry for the The Craft Barn where the quote/lyric words this time ART and ROAD. I couldn't find a quote with both of the words this time so I chose ART.

I do love Degas's painting of dancers-a lot of ballet but these are Russian dancers in a field of corn My quote is by Degas--well maybe it is?

The page is from an old book and it is sprayed with various colours then embossed with a Tim Holtz stencil. I added words that I thought this painting made me think about.

Tag Along this week has the theme gypsy

This is another branch of art I really love with the bright colours. I also love tattoo art and I copied this face from a tattoo design though the original looks a lot prettier than mine. I made the background from a picture of a gypsy and a caravan. The flower was one of three on a hairband I bought at Poundland.

Now for Wicked Wednesday where they ask for ATCs each week and nice if they have a wicked twist somewhere. This week the theme is leprechaun
This one I found seems happy to have bagged the pot of gold I did some work in PSP to add a bit more character and the tape in the corners. Next I printed it onto gloss photo paper and made sure there was lots of black ink on the print. Then I added texture to the black with a debit card and finger prints. The gold peel-offs covered up some of the bad smudges :(

Have a lovely day all

Chrissie xx

Artful Times Challenge 51-Game Pieces

Hello Everyone who pops into Jumbled Crafts today and thank you for all the wonderful comments I get each week. A warm welcome to my latest followers as well.

At Artful Times this time, we have the theme Game Pieces which was chosen by Neet. Lots of things you could use I'm sure and I can't wait to see all of your wonderful ideas. If you join in with us, you may win a prize from Oyster Stamps when the winner and runner-up are chosen for this and the last challenge.

I made this picture from a children's jigsaw. I did take pictures along the way so you could see how I made it.
This was the jigsaw and I took out the middle 6 pieces

I separated the pieces and worked on the plain side of them

Each piece was painted a different colours, then when dry fastened back together and decorated with bits and bobs

All I had to do then was mount it onto a backing piece and I edged the card with some nice, strong ribbon. It could go into a frame at some point when I find one it fits.

Hope you will visit Von and Neet to see what they have made for this challenge

Also a warm welcome to Wendy who has joined our Design Team-do pop to see what she made and make her feel at home.

Collage-Under (water)

Hi All. Welcome to Jumbled Crafts and thank you for your visit.

It is only a few weeks ago that I found Collage Obsession but it has certainly revived my interest in digital 'messing about'-I mean art:) . I look forward each week to the challenges there. Some amazing collages entered by people who join in. This week the theme is 'Under' and I have chosen underwater.

The background I used was a desk top download, I found the diver picture online but created all the other 'wonders' with brushes in PSP.

Have a beautiful and happy day

Tag Tuesday

Hello Everyone-thank you for calling in at Jumbled Crafts.

I keep forgetting to show my tags on here that I make for Tag Tuesday as we write our own posts over at the blog. This week the theme is Pretty in Pink.

What a lovely theme to choose-I really enjoyed making this tag. I sprayed various inks and glitter mists to make the background then added lace to the bottom. The image is one from GeckoGalz. The other embellishments are out of my bits and bobs box.

Hope you all have a wonderful day

Inchie Engraving

Hi All. Not a lot of time today as we have started to decorated our bedroom. It isn't a very big room so there isn't room to move about much which doesn't help at all when two of us are trying to do very different things :)

At Every Inchie Monday this week the theme is Engraving and there are some wonderful entries already.

Mine isn't so wonderful. I thought of lovers engraving their initials on a tree trunk and whilst I was watching the rugby matches over the weekend I was drawing some inchies and cutting them out ready to stick on a background, this is one of them.

Thanks for dropping in and have a wonderful day

Craft Room and Rhedd's Creative Spirit

Hello Everyone who drops by and thank you for visiting. It is a beautiful sunny day here and we are off for a walk to the seafront and along the beach in a short while.

I have combined 2 challenges with this piece  and I did make it with both of them in mind so equal billing for them.

At Rhedd's Creative Spirit the theme is to change something as you wish--it will be that most times but there could be a twist sometimes so make sure you look each month. At Craft-Room Challenge the theme is the 20th century. Always great themes to think about there.

I bought 4 small canvases and I have used one of them to make this picture. The background and the flowers are made from kitchen roll that I used to mop up Spray Inks when I was making something else.

Amazing how many sheets get covered in the ink and they look so pretty. I used the Tattered Flowers Die to make the flowers.
The photograph is of my grandma and grandad and my dad and I changed it from sepia to a brighter shade. All dead now and I only have one aunt left of that generation and she is in her late 80s. The photograph was taken in 1920 and it was a time not long after the war and people started to relax more. I never saw my grandad without a black bow tie but I didn't think I would see him wearing one whilst paddling in the sea. I thought I would give the picture to my aunt as we are going to see her on Saturday and it is a long time since we met-up but we do speak on the phone quite often.

Have a lovely day

A Vintage Journey and Try it on Tuesday

Hi Everyone. Another crafty day for me so far but I will be watching the rugby later. Hope your day is going well and thank you for calling at Jumbled Crafts.

A new challenge blog has started this week called A Vintage Journey. It is about all things Tim Holtz and there is a very talented DT team so lots of inspiring ideas.

I haven't got a lot of TH's goodies but enough to be able to make something in his style so I made this card. I used Rangers Dylusion Spray Inks and the TH gears folder for my centre background then a Chocolate Baroque stamp and Distressed Inks for the card background. The stencil is by Dreamweaver and I used GP Gesso for that. The little wooden stamp I used is by Anita's and I have had it for years.  The flowers I made with Tim Holtz Tattered Flower die using the smallest one of the four flowers shapes. The swirls are a JOY die.

I also made this for the challenge at Try It on Tuesday where the theme is to make a birthday card using a mask or stencil

Have a great day

Tag Along and Wicked Wednesday

Hi Everyone and thank you for dropping by Jumbled Crafts. A warm welcome to my latest follower and I hope you will visit often and enjoy what you find here. Wet and dreary here at the moment so I am going to catch-up with posts and maybe a bit of crafting. The Para Olympics opening ceremony is this afternoon so I will be watching that so must find something useful to do while I watch.

At Tag Along the theme is Queens or Kings or both.

Here is Queen Victoria looking her regal best and a quote that is said to be hers. I found the origin here if you want to read about it. The tag has a background that I made from the image and a little flower stamp to fill in the gaps on the quote label.

Wicked Wednesday challenges are always ATCs and  I just love joining in there as you can let your imagination rip. Wonderful  fun to see what what the DT makes. This week the theme is Crazy for Coffee.

This is what I made. I printed the background onto a bit of canvas stuff--well it is really one of the ends cut off a window blind-just right for ATCs. Then I found a coffee mug image and made it my own with various things. A nice bit of copper wire and a little spring makes it look more 'dangerous'

That's it for now but I may be back later if I make something else.

Have a great day whatever you are doing

Love Chrissie x

Inchie and Collage

Hello Everyone from a very sunny NE UK Coast. Thank you for calling in at Jumbled Crafts.

At Every Inchie Monday this week we have the theme explode to think about

I'm afraid my mind went a bit blank on this one and this is all I came up with :(

Then at Collage Obsession there is Monkey Business as this week's theme. I just love getting my digital brain working again after years of not using it very much.

I found the picture of the monkey and child on a nature site then I worked over it with various brushes. I also found a folder full of brushes I had made years ago with saying so used two of those and a simple frame to finish off the collage.

Photographs, Tag and Journal Page

Hi All. I am looking forward to a crafty day and one that will rest my legs a bit as we have done quite a bit of walking this last week

Crafty makes lower down after the woodland pictures.

Here is a glimpse of what we saw on a woodland walk 2 days ago-Spring bulbs everywhere carpeting the woodland floor. People take lots of bulbs to the walk to plant there so it is very colourful. We have taken saplings there that we grew from conkers and they are doing really well.

Simply beautiful

A curious squirrel--there are many in the wood

This is quite old and some of them have twigs growing through them

no buds on the trees yet.

Now to my crafty makes

This is my make for Moo Mania where the theme this time is London-no need to include a Moo you can make anything you like. I haven't been to London often but we always try to go on a bus and see all around the places of interest. I made this tag on some cardboard packaging so it is a bit rustic.

At Art Journal Journal this month the theme is Fantasy Scene.
I love the idea of wearing flowers in my hair and being surrounded by fantasy flowers so I made this page. Some painting, some stamping, some colouring with Promarkers and I made the fantasy 'me' in Paint Shop Pro a long time ago My ideal fantasy world would be like the one in Avatar but with out the humans invading.

Have a lovely day and thank you for dropping by
