Try it on Tuesday Sewing and Buttons

Hello to everyone and thank you for your visit.

There were some great ideas for the 1960s retro challenge and I am sure you will all be happy with the new challenge theme at Try it on Tuesday as it is Sewing with Buttons. You can make anything you like so long as it has sewing and buttons somewhere that we can see them. Hope you will pop here and see what the rest of the team have made as they make wonderful things to inspire you all.

I made a shabby journal cover with gathered strips of different fabrics  and little bits and bobs added to make it look more interesting. The roses were on a headband from Poundland so I cut them off to use on projects

This is what I covered. Every year a neighbour gives us the same type of diary with wonderful flower drawings inside. We do use them but they have beautiful flower drawings on one side which we don't write on.

The back is just covered with a piece of strong, purple card.

 This is one of the pages and I thought I could try to copy the flower drawings. I am not good at drawing flowers so it will help me improve hopefully. The date pages that have writing on I will cover with plain paper and add my copy of the flower opposite.

I would like to add this to the Flowers challenge at Moo Mania as well. All types of  crafting is acceptable there as long as you follow the theme. You don't even have to include a Moo.

New Beginnings at TIOT

Hi All, this is a scheduled post as my daughter will still be staying with us by the time it goes out.
Thank you for calling in at Jumbled Crafts and I hope you are ready for the new challenge at Try It On Tuesday. It is always great to see what everyone makes for the challenges and also to see what my wonderful team mates make as well. Do pop along for inspiration here

This time the theme is New Beginnings which will give everyone plenty of scope I'm sure.

This is what I made and here it is on the back of the potting shed door.

Vic can never remember which seeds he planted when and so I thought this might help when he is discussing seeds with his friends. Yes! They actually do that!

It started life as a rather large Amazon folder. I used the back which was 11 inches wide and 13 inches long.

I covered the front with a 12x12 paper from K and Co LLC. I have quite a few of the sheets that I have never used

                                  

This photograph was taken in the craft room before Vic started to use the plan. All I did was add thick purple card for the top and the seed pockets then design a 'seed sown' plan in Paint Shop Pro. He doesn't plant seeds between September and January-he is too busy clearing things out and getting ready for the next year. He has already planted some of the seeds from the packets I bought for the project.

We only have a small garden so a lot of the plants he grows he takes to the charity shop and they always sell them.

They who have wings at Try It on Tuesday

Hello Everyone and welcome to Jumbled Crafts. Thank you for your visit and I hope what you find here will inspire you to join in the challenge. If you would like inspiration you can go here to see what the rest of team have made and their wonderful and varied ideas.

Try it on Tuesday's new theme is 'They who have Wings' and I just kept it simple and chose a bird even though you can invent lots of things with wings I'm sure.

I made a journal page. Firstly I painted the thick paper with white acrylic then dropped a few colours of alcohol ink here and there until it covered the white. When it was dry I drew flower and leaf shapes around the ink splodges to make the background. The dove shape is a template I have had for a long time and you can cut on the dotted line to make the wing stand up for cards etc. The 'keep calm and create peace' is from a book of Keep Calm quotes that I bought to use for projects. I drew the peace branch and leaves and tied the keep calm tag with a bit of blue embroidery silk.

I am also going to enter this at Art Journal Journey as it is the last day of the Things with Wings challenge where I was hostess for March. Thank you to Susi and Valerie for inviting me and to everyone who entered the challenge-it was amazing to visit all of your blogs and see your works of art. I hope you will join in with their next challenge for April.

Pearls for Girls at TIOT

Hello Everyone and a warm welcome to Jumbled Crafts and to the new challenge at Try it on Tuesday. It was really lovely to see the entries for the Tic, Tac Toe and to be inspired by the wonderful ideas.

This time the theme is Pearls for Girls and I hope you will go here and see the stunning projects that my teamies have made.

I made a birthday card. The first thing I did was Distress around the edges of the card and draw a border of stitching. I just realised that I did this on the last TIOT project as well-must think of a new edging I reckon.

 Next I stuck on a piece of plaid paper and a piece of paper with a flower on it. Then I cut some shapes with a Sizzix die set. The body shape is one I found on a free to use site online and 'dressed it' with a bit of lace and fabric. Now for the pearls bit. I stitched on some from an old set of pearls and the others are stuck on.

Can't wait to see what  you make.

Use some Fabric at Try it on Tuesday

Hello Everyone. Nice of you to call in at Jumbled Crafts today--thank you.

I am sure you are all ready for our new challenge at Try it on Tuesday where the theme this time is to use some fabric somewhere on your entry. Ribbon doesn't count as the fabric for the challenge.

Hope you will pop and see what my fellow team mates have made and feel inspired to join in with us.

I made this art journal as I seem to be doing a lot of journal pages recently and need somewhere to keep them all in book form.

This was my inspiration though it doesn't look very inspiring I know. I have some of Vic's old hankies that I use to clean paint brushes and wipe up stains and this is one that I rinsed through but it was still patterned.

I had a pad of large pages loosely joined together-ideal for making a book. I also found a quite large cardboard envelope that was just right for the outside of the book. After shaping it, I painted it with orange acrylic paint and then stamped and coloured the outside. The stamps were from a set by Chocolate Baroque

The fabric front was made with a piece of card covered in the hankie and also there was enough left to stick some down the spine. Then I drilled 3 holes through the whole thing and put key rings through the holes so the pages can be turned.

Just to finish it off with a flourish I added a few bag charms that I made from bits of felt.
